How to add an M3U playlist on Windows

In under a minute: open Raudo, paste your M3U/M3U8 URL or pick the file, save, and your channels load right away.

Raudo is the player — you bring your own playlist (M3U or Xtream Codes). It ships no channels and no content.

Add your M3U in 4 steps

01

Open Raudo

Install and open Raudo on Windows 10 or 11. The start screen shows the option to add a source.

02

Add a new source

Click “Add source” and choose the M3U type. Give it a name you'll recognize (for example, “My list”).

03

Paste the URL or pick the file

Paste your M3U/M3U8 link (it starts with http:// or https://) or click “Choose file” to load a .m3u or .m3u8 saved on your PC.

04

Save and load the channels

Click “Save.” Raudo reads the playlist, sorts the channels by category, and you can start watching in seconds.

URL or file: which to use

You can load your playlist two ways, and both work equally well in Raudo. Pick whichever you have on hand:

  • M3U/M3U8 URL: a link that starts with http:// or https://. It's the recommended option when your provider keeps it updated, because Raudo can re-read it whenever you refresh the source.
  • Local .m3u or .m3u8 file: a file saved on your PC. Handy if you already downloaded the list or want to work offline; keep in mind it won't update on its own if the content changes.

The .m3u8 format is simply an M3U playlist encoded in UTF-8. Raudo supports both with nothing extra on your part: paste the URL or select the file and you're done.

If it says the playlist is invalid

If saving shows an empty or invalid playlist warning, it's almost always the link or the file, not Raudo. Check these:

  • Copy the full URL, with no spaces at the start or end and without the browser truncating it.
  • Confirm the link opens a real playlist (text that starts with #EXTM3U) and not a login page or a provider error.
  • For a file, make sure the extension is .m3u or .m3u8 and that it's saved in UTF-8 encoding, not another format.
  • Try switching http to https (or the other way around) if your provider supports both.
  • Verify your provider is still active and that you haven't exceeded the allowed number of connections.

If the playlist still won't load after that, the issue is usually at the source: ask your provider for an updated M3U link or export the file again.

Common problems

What's the difference between M3U and M3U8?

None that matters to you: M3U8 is an M3U playlist in UTF-8 encoding. Raudo opens both the same way, whether by URL or by file.

I pasted the URL but no channels show up

Open the link in your browser to confirm it returns a playlist (it starts with #EXTM3U). If it shows an error or a web page, the link is expired or mistyped; ask your provider for a new one.

Can I have several playlists at once?

Yes. Add as many sources as you like and switch between them anytime; each list keeps its own channels, categories, and favorites.

How do I update the list when it changes?

If you loaded a URL, refresh the source from its options to re-read it. If you used a file, select the new version again.

Channels load but stutter or skip

That's about playback, not the playlist. Check our buffering guide and try the live speed control to reach the live edge.

Prefer to use Xtream Codes?

If your provider gives you host, username, and password instead of an M3U URL, follow the Xtream Codes guide; the process is just as fast.
